Values
There is a difference between our values and what we value. The ethos of our
church, our culture, is the summary of those things we value, and at Lifesong
that ethos is that “we’re not there yet, so come walk with
us on the journey to let our lives add to His song.”
-
To revere the God who sent His only
son to die for us would include bringing that powerful story to the world in
ways that connect with the culture to which we’ve been sent. We value
the power of story.
-
Since God gives the power to gain wealth, He is the
source of it, thus no matter how much we give, God will always have more to pour
into us. We value extravagant generosity.
-
Grace is
just that, unmerited favor, love, forgiveness. We value giving that kind of love
and grace to everyone in the community - in or out of church - just like Jesus
did.
-
God is in the people transformation business because He has ordained good
works for us to do from the foundation of the world. We don’t let the
fact that we’ve not been the person we know we can be keep us from
Christ, and neither should you. We value letting nothing hold us back from
passionate surrender.
-
The miraculous
intervention is unpredictable as to when it will happen, and when we stay in
places that require none of it we marginalize God. We value running all-out
toward places that we can’t go without Him getting involved.
-
Creation is
huge, the Exodus was huge, the Gospel is huge, Salvation is huge. Never sell the
ideas that could lead to eternal life-change short. We value all-in investment
in whatever we undertake.
-
Change in the culture and environment for the
gospel will change, and since nothing lasts forever, let’s
experiment… a lot! We value embracing constant and radical change in
every area and way.
-
Whether we’re standing, jumping, kneeling or dancing before God, we
can fall. We value passionate and humble prayer before a majestic God.
-
We’re not better just because we’re better-off: Often the
most unhappy and stress-filled lives are those with the most stuff. We value
touching the lives of the hurting, broken and underprivileged.
